It is a great joy for me to share briefly this special time of renewal at Oblate School of Theology, San Antonio, Texas. Was it not a blessing indeed to have four months of quality time with 24 participants from 13 different countries? That event took place from August 17 to December 12, 2015.
Sr. Marie-Louise Nakhuluma, Daughter of Wisdom from Malawi, took part in the program also. Since each Congregation presented briefly their charism and spirituality, it was meaningful for Marie-Louise and me to prepare our Wisdom Story together.
We had presentations on various contemporary topics which refreshed our mind, body and spirit. Time of integration was on our daily program. Weekly spiritual direction was a special gift offered to each one of us. A married woman from the State of Maine was my Spiritual Director.
We had the opportunity to tour the historical site of Old San Antonio Mission. There, the history of Texas and Mexico became alive before our eyes for the mission spoke clearly about the sufferings of the past and the courage needed for the journey. Another meaningful experience was a site visit to Haven of Hope, a drop-in Centre for the poor. Yes, indeed at this location, we met “God in the poor.” Dedicated staff members restore the life and health of our people so that they can continue their journey with dignity.
Some of the topics or presentations that touched me the most were:
With the richness of our Wisdom Spirituality I found it easy to make the link between these life-giving topics and my life as Daughter of Wisdom. All blessings!
We will conclude our Sabbatical program with seven days of directed retreat. Before we leave we will have the opportunity to thank our Director, Fr. Vincent, omi and all the staff who have been part of our journey during our “Ministry to Ministers” program. I wish to thank Sr. Linda Joseph and our Provincial Leadership Team for this gift of blessing as this time in my life. I will be returning to Ottawa on December 13, 2015.
United at the service of Life!
